First UNESCO has started celebrating this day in the year 1967 to spread awareness about literacy and know their rights of social and human development.
Literacy means ability to understand, interpret, identify, communicate and compute.
Theme of world literacy day 2021 is “”Literacy for human centered recovery, narrowing the digital divide””.”
